Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – What We’ve All Been Waiting For

The fourth and final installment of the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn, is said to debut on the silver screen sometime in 2011 in the United States. This highly anticipated movie will tie up all the loose ends for those who have followed Edward, Bella, Jacob and the rest of the packs and clans whose stories became tied together in previous films.

Breaking Dawn will be directed by a newcomer to the saga. The previous directors have been David Slade, Chris Weitz and Catherine Hardwicke. The one at the top of the list for the fourth is Bill Condon, director of musical film Dreamgirls in 2006.

There are two other directors who have been considered. Gus Van Sant and Sofia Coppola have been approached along with Condon; however, there hasn’t been one director to officially take on the task. Major stars of the movies, Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, or Edward and Bella, personally favor Van Sant but will enjoy working with anyone. Although each of these films have had a different overseer, the final products so far have been relatively seamless. The vision for these films has remained unwavering among the changing of directors.

The cast for Breaking Dawn is, for now, the same as the other films. The only casting mishap that has yet to occur is with the character Victoria who was played by a different actress in the third, Eclipse, from the first two. However, this character won’t be needed in this fourth part of the story.

Questions have come up about this part of the story being split into two separate films like the extremely popular fantasy forerunner Harry Potter, which is using this tactic in the seventh and last film. At this moment this question remains unanswered. This problem is one in the handful of remaining decisions that are keeping the project’s creation from moving forward by remaining unanswered. If it says anything about the decision, most of the actors and even the author of these novels, Stephanie Meyer, hope that it will be two movies and not one. Since it’s the longest book in the saga, Breaking Dawn has a lot of ground to be covered.

There is also a question being thrown around regarding whether the film will be released in 3-D or not; this is probably due to the fact that 3-D movies are a current popular trend for action and adventure flicks. The actors’ opinion on this, however, is not quite so enthusiastic; although it’s understanding to follow a trend, they would be happier if this didn’t happen.

Since the length of time between New Moon and Eclipse being released was only seven months, people are starting to wonder whether Breaking Dawn will fall behind. While all the other Twilight movies have been ahead in production, the fourth hasn’t even begun; the one or two decisions that are left to be made are major enough to keep the filming from pressing forward.

With the first three films coming out in enough time to keep the fans happily anticipating, the lack of concern for making the executive decisions regarding this fourth film is becoming a little worrisome. The Twilight Saga has a very dedicated fan-base. Regardless of how it’s put onto the screen, the public is already setting their visual expectations and craving the final outcome.
